Costas GaliotisPrincipal Investigator

Costas Galiotis is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the ERC Advanced – Tailoring Graphene project. He is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering (Univ. of Patras) and former Director of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) which is one of the 7 academic research institutions of the Foundation of Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH).

Konstantinos Papagelis --Assistant Professor

Konstantinos Papagelis Assistant Professor

Dr. K. Papagelis is an Assistant Professor (since 2010) at the Department of Materials Science (Univ. of Patras) and visiting faculty member at FORTH/ICE-HT. He has MSc in Physics of Materials and a PhD in Physics both from the Department of Physics (Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki). He carried out post- doctoral research for more than two years supported by the Marie Curie program of EU at the Univ. of Sussex (UK) in the lab of Prof. K. Prassides. After a short period as a contract Lecturer he held a Lecturer position (2005) at the Department of Materials Science (Univ. of Patras).

John Parthenios--Associate Application Scientist

Dr. J. Parthenios (FORTH/ ICE-HT): He is an Associate Application scientist at FORTH/ICEHT since February 2009.  He received his university degree in the Dept of Physics of the University of Patras in 1988 and his PhD degree from the same department in 1996. He carried out post- doctoral research for 9 years in FORTH/ICE-HT working mainly in the filed of smart materials and structures. During 2008 he was a visiting scientist at University of London, Queen Mary and Westfield College. His current research activities lie around the study of mechanical properties of polymers and nanocomposites materials.

 

George Kalosakas--Lecturer

Dr. George Kalosakas is a Lecturer at the Department of Materials Science, Univ. of Patras, and visiting faculty member at FORTH/ICE-HT. He has BSc in Physics from the Department of Physics, Univ. of Athens, and MSc in Condensed Matter Physics and a PhD in Physics both from the Department of Physics, Univ. of Crete. He carried out post-doctoral research for more than three years at Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA, working with Dr. Alan R. Bishop, and for more than two years at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden Germany. He has also visited for collaboration CEA-CNRS (Saclay, France), UC Berkeley (USA), Univ. of New Mexico (USA), Technical University of Denmark (Lyngby,Denmark), and NCSR Demokritos (Athens, Greece).

Ioannis Polyzos--Physics

Dr Ioannis Polyzos is a Postdoctoral fellow at FORTH/ICE-HT since 2011. He received the B.Sc. in Physics and the M.Sc. in Physics with emphasis in Lasers from the University of Patras, Greece in 1997 and 2000 respectively. He obtained his PhD from the same University in 2006. His PhD thesis entitled «Study of multi-photon properties of Pyrylium salts and applications to three dimensional optical memories». In 2007, a postdoctoral fellowship from IKY was awarded him.

Emmanuel N. Koukaras--Serior Research Associate

Dr. Emmanuel N. Koukaras is a serior Research Associate of the Composite and Nanomaterials Laboratory of FORTH/ICE-HT. He has a BSc in Physics, MSc in Theoretical and Computational Physics, and a PhD in Computational Condensed Matter Physics, all from the Department of Physics of the Univeristy of Patras. His PhD thesis is entitled «Theoretical study of silicon based nanoparticles and nanosystems». During his MSc studies he received the "K. Karatheodori" research scholarship.

Maria Giovanna Pastore Carbone--Materials Science

Maria Giovanna Pastore CarboneMaterials Science

Dr. Maria Giovanna Pastore Carbone is a Postdoc Fellow at FORTH/ICEHT since February 2015. She received her university degree in Materials Engineering in 2008 and her PhD degree in Materials and Structure Engineering in 2011, both from the Dept. of Chemical, Materials and Production Engineering, University of Napoli Federico II (Italy). During her PhD, she actively collaborated with Bridgestone Technical Center Europe (Roma, Italy) and visited the laboratories headed by Prof. Costas Galiotis at FORTH/ICEHT.

George Trakakis--Materials Science

Dr. Georgios Trakakis is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at FORTH/ICE-HT and a member of the Composites & Nanostructured Materials Laboratory, CNM, since 2006. He received his BSc from the Department of Materials Science of the University of Patras in 2007 and his MSc and PhD from Interdepartmental Program “Polymer Science and Technology”, University of Patras, Greece, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. His PhD thesis was about “Fabrication and characterization of polymer nanocomposites”.

Charalampos Androulidakis--Materials Science

Charalampos AndroulidakisMaterials Science

Dr Charalampos Androulidakis is a post-doc fellow in the FORTH/ICEHT institute and holds a diploma and a Masters Degree in civil engineering from Universities of Patras and Thessaly. His Ph.D. studies were in material science and specifically in nanomechanics of graphene. He is a licensed Civil Engineer and a registered member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. He is a member of the Composites & Nanostructured Materials Laboratory, CNM, since 2011.

Christos Pavlou--Chemical Engineering

Christos Pavlou, acquired his BSc in Material Science in 2010 from the Department of Material Science, at the University of Patras, his thesis was on ‘investigation of micromachining operations and tool wear’ at the LMS laboratory, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, at the University of Patras. Moreover his was a faculty member at the LMS laboratory, as an external collaborator, from the 2005 to 2010, where he participated in various projects.

Theodosis Theodosiou--Chemical Engineering

Theodosis TheodosiouChemical Engineering

Dr. Theodosis C. Theodosiou – University of Patras (Patras, Greece) holds a Diploma (2004) in Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics and a Ph.D. (2010) in Mechanical Engineering in the area of materials science and nanotechnology from the University of Patras. He has more than ten years’ experience in material modeling, composite structures, nanocomposites and structural health monitoring (SHM).

George Paterakis is a Doctoral Student at the Department of Chemical Engineering (Univ. of Patras) working with CVD graphene stress-strain tests, supervised by Professor Costas Galiotis. Furthermore he is a member of the Composites & Nanostructured Materials Laboratory (CNM) and at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (FORTH/ICE-HT), since 2013. He received his university degree in the Department of Materials Science (Univ. of Patras) in 2012 and his MSc degree from the Interdepartmental of Polymer Science & Technology (Univ. of Patras) on the “Photovoltaic cells and devices using polymeric materials and graphene layers” in 2015. He has authored 3 scientific papers on international journals and has actively participated in 10 conferences.

Nikolaos Delikoukos--Materials Science

Nikolaos DelikoukosMaterials Science

Nikolaos Delikoukos, received his university degree in the Department of Materials Science of the University of Patras in 2011 and his master degree in Polymer Science and Technologies in 2015 from Physics Department of University of Patras. His thesis was conducted at ITE/IEXMH and he investigated the behavior of p-doped exfoliated and CVD graphene onto silicon oxide via Raman, Ultraviolet photoelectron and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, supervised by Assistant Professor Konstantinos Papagelis.
